Over the years there are many questions that get asked over and over, so here is a place where I will post those Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:Q- "How much notice do I need to give you, to place an order?"A- I prefer as much as possible; when you know about your event, let me know! I typically book up to 2-4 weeks in advance. With that being said, if you have a last minute need for a cake give me a call and we'll see if I can squeeze you in-I try to be flexible. Q- "What flavors do you offer?"A- I offer most flavors such as: Swiss Chocolate, Devil's Food, Butter, Yellow, Fudge Marble, Banana, Lemon, Dark Chocolate Fudge, Orange, Strawberry, French Vanilla, Coconut, German Chocolate, Red Velvet, White. The most common and favorite flavors are: lemon, white, marble, orange. 1 flavor comes with your order, but you maye add additional flavors for 8 dollars per flavor change. Q- "What kind of fillings do you offer?"A- I don't typically use fillings in my cakes, however I will use buttercream if needed for the construction of the cake. Or you may special order filling at 8 dollars per filling flavor. Q- "What kind of frostings do you use?"A- I use homemade buttercream for all my cakes as well as fondant to cover some and for the accessories. Many people have terrible taste experiences with fondant, however I ASSURE you that you will like the fondant that I use-Fondarific Q- "What information do you need when I contact you about a cake order?"A- When? how many people? themes or ideas? pickup or delivery? would love to see a picture! Q- "Do you deliver?"A- Yes I do deliver for a fee, however most people pick up their cakes. Q- "Am I suppose to tip?"A- Tipping is your personal preference. If you feel like it, please do. If you don't feel it is neccesary please don't. Q- "How many cakes do you commit to each week?"A- I usually do 2-8 cakes a week, however most are due on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Q- "What is your personal favorite cake you have done?"A- Well it is difficult to pick, as each cake has a story and my heart has gone into all of them. The cakes become a part of me and my life during the week. A couple of my favorites: bubble bath, diaper bag, many of the cakes that look like food or real objects. Q- "How much should I expect to pay for your cakes?"A- Each cake is unique so we don't have a standard price list. Pricing is based on the number of people being served, the intricacy of the design or sculpture and the time invested in its creation. In general, pricing ranges from $4-$30 dollars per serving, and due to the custom care given to each cake, a minimum of $150 is required. Contact me for an accurate quote. I will do my very best to work within your budget or refer you to someone else:) Q- "Where do you get your inspiration?"A- There are quite a few website out there that have cake pictures on them. A couple favorites are cakecentral and flickr. Q- "How long does it take you to make a cake?"A- Well, it depends on if you want to count the trip to the store, preperations, baking, designing, making frostings, and decorating. All in all most cakes takes on average 6 hours in total.

About Us

Who is the creator of NO MORE BORING CAKES? Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Jen Drury. I was a SAHM to Eli, my 6 yr. old son (who is now in Kindergarten) and wife to my very supportive husband Kris. I am so grateful to do this type of work while still be home with my son at the end of the school day.I have over 7 years of cake decorating experience. The very first cake that I helped work on was a baby shower cake. I realized that not only was it lots of fun but I was also good at it! It seemed very natural. So I took one Wilton class at our local Michael's craft store and I was hooked! My first cakes that I created on my own were for my nephew's birthdays. They were sort of my guniea pigs, but of course they did not mind (as long as the cake was lemon flavored:) For many years I only did cakes for family and friends. Cakes were and are my gift on all ocassions.In January 2008 I decided to give this whole Cake Decorating idea a go with the public. I have been very well recieved and have been steadily getting orders. This is an amazing job!In August 2008, I have added a new edge to my cake making. I am now doing Cake Decorating Parties. This is a great idea for kids birthday parties (aren't you tied of the bowling alley, chuck e' cheeses, boomers, etc?) These parties are also available to adults that would like to know how to decorate cakes. Gather a group of friends and invite me to come to your home; I will bring ALL supplies and everyone will go home with their very own cake creation. Please contact me and we can tailor a party for your needs.I enjoy making cakes that really make people take a second look to figure out if it is the real object or a cake. I think about cakes all the time, always wondering what I can create next. With each cake, it is like my very first; I still get excited, nervous and anxious.... but I LOVE it!!!I operated out of Eat Your Lunch Deli and Grill in San Marcos for about one year, until the deli closed its' doors. i was then faced with a decision to find a new place, open a place, etc. I was approached by a local catering company www.smokecatering.com to partner with them in opening a shop. How amazingly blessed I was and am I to have this opportunity. Our dual cake and catering shop opened in november 2010- located at 1220 E. Mission Rd.
